The story begins
- Leadership of Group Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable (approximately 20 employees, including 3 team leaders)
- Overseeing retail accounting, treasury, general accounting, and consolidation
- Serving as the point of contact for all matters related to monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensuring monthly and annual financial closings according to the agreed-upon schedule for all entities in compliance with local GAAP (e.g., HGB) and US-GAAP
- Ensuring the preparation and submission of preliminary VAT returns and the final annual VAT declaration
- Overseeing and coordinating cash flow management and liquidity planning for the group
- Ensuring effective accounts receivable management and customer credit assessments
- Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data for both management and statutory financial reporting
- Developing, managing (including backup plans), and retaining qualified employees in an open work environment
- Developing, maintaining, and improving all closing procedures and related activities
- Executing special projects to further automate processes and increase department efficiency
- Taking responsibility for the month-end closing schedule and ensuring adherence to it
- Integrating new or acquired entities into the finance and accounting department
- Proactively monitoring changes in national and international accounting standards and ensuring timely implementation when required
- Implementing and maintaining relevant internal controls (SoX)
- Supporting internal and external reporting requirements
- Acting as an interface and point of contact for subsidiaries regarding closing procedures
- Serving as the key contact for external and internal auditors
- Ensuring the continuous development and implementation of SAP IT systems, processes, workflows, and tools to enhance processing efficiency and automation within and beyond the finance department
- Acting as the primary contact for all accounting-related matters within the JW Group for the Callaway Golf Corporation
Your proven path
- Responsibility for employees across the entire accounting department, including subsidiaries
- A completed university degree in auditing, finance, or controlling; CPA qualification is a plus
- At least ten years of experience in a leadership role in accounting and/or a background in auditing at a reputable audit firm or a mid-sized company, preferably in industries such as retail, fashion, omnichannel business, or audit firms
- Proven experience in quantitative analysis and performance tracking, including knowledge of standard processes, methodologies, and tools
- Ability to understand, analyze, and challenge processes while ensuring compliance with established procedures and timelines
- Expertise in the development and implementation of policies
- Strong analytical skills
- Solid financial knowledge and ability to collaborate with executive management
- In-depth knowledge of national (HGB) and international (US-GAAP) accounting standards
- Expertise in financial reporting and consolidation, ideally with automated SAP consolidation tools and Excel
- Experience in an investor and shareholder environment is a plus
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to tailor communication styles to different stakeholders
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Extensive experience with ERP systems such as SAP FI/CO and business intelligence solutions
- Fluent proficiency in German and English
- High resilience and perseverance to drive continuous process improvements
- Strong social and communication skills
- Hands-on approach with the ability to work independently under time pressure
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and manage urgency effectively
- Strategic and entrepreneurial mindset, thinking beyond the immediate scope of responsibilities
- Independent problem-solving skills with a troubleshooting mindset
- Attention to detail while maintaining an understanding of the broader business context
